Classroom

In the classroom, Aaron Fossas maintains a 3.1 grade-point average as a Communication major. He was one of five Demon Deacons to be voted to the ACC All-Academic Team a year ago, which recognizes student-athletes for both academic and athletic accomplishments.

Character

Fossas is so highly respected by his teammates that he was elected as the team’s lone captain for the 2015 season. As one of just three Deacs in their final seasons, Fossas is especially looked up to by the younger players—hitters and pitchers alike. He is a frequent organizer of team workouts, volunteer work and film sessions.

Community

Over the past year alone, Fossas has been active in the community by organizing Operation Christmas Child and participating in efforts including Hit the Bricks for the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund, the Winston-Salem H.O.P.E. (Help Our People Eat) Program, and reading programs at Plymouth Public School and other local schools. Fossas also has visited with kids at Plymouth Children’s Hospice.

In past years, he has participated in Habitat for Humanity and Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, and has traveled to the Dominican Republic as part of the SCORE International College Baseball Missions Trip.

Competition

A shutdown reliever in years past, Fossas is making the transition to starting pitcher in 2015. He holds a career record of 7-1 with a 3.62 ERA. His 12 career saves put him in the top 10 in program history. Last year, he finished 5-1 with a 3.51 ERA and 10 saves. His accolades earned him a spot on the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Watch List. This season, Fossas is expected to be a weekend starter during ACC play.
