Classroom

Named the Academic All-American of the Year for 2007 by ESPN The Magazine. Recognized as recipient of 2006 Anson Mount Scholar/Athlete Award by Playboy Magazine, earning a $5,000 donation to the UI general scholarship fund, CoSIDA third team academic all-American in 2006, Academic all-Big Ten, 2005 and 2006, CoSIDA District VII academic all-America team, 2004-05.

Character

Recipient of 2005 and 2006 Chris Street Award, presented annually to the Hawkeye player who best exemplifies the spirit, enthusiasm and intensity of Chris Street who died in an auto accident midway through his junior season in 1993. Recipient of Big Ten Conference Sportsmanship Award for 2005-06 for all male student-athletes at the University of Iowa.

Community

Involved in Iowa Basketball Read to Grow program, in which members of the basketball team visit elementary schools in the Iowa City Community School District, regular visits to patients at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and the Ronald McDonald House on the UI campus, active member in the University of Iowa Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Athletes in Action. Serves as Eucharistic minister and lecturer at the UI Newman Catholic Student Center.

Competition

Named to pre-season Watch List for John R. Wooden all-American team and the Naismith Award, pre-season all-Big Ten team selected by league media, Iowa’s 2006-07 team captain, honorable mention all-Big Ten, 2004-05.
