Character

Adriana is a team captain for the 2020 season.

From Head Coach Tom Pardalis: “I carefully recruit softball players that are excellent athletes, great students, and good people. As the coach who has worked with Adriana for the past four years, I feel I am well-qualified to speak of her good character, academic achievement, and work ethic. As a Division I athlete in the Bronx, Adriana has had a variety of diverse experiences and has impacted our surrounding New York City community. As a team, we have performed many hours of community service, including clinics for local middle school and high school students, and I have observed Adriana taking a leadership role at all of them, providing instruction and guidance to the participants. Adriana is also the rare impact Division I player both in the classroom and on the playing field. This past season, our program was ranked seventh in the nation academically for Division I softball because of superior student-athletes like her. Not only has she been named to the MAAC All-Academic Team and has earned NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete and COSIDA Academic All-District First Team honors, but her teammates also value her leadership and elected her as a team captain for this year. Adriana has a 3.98 GPA in civil engineering in one of the country’s most rigorous engineering programs, an incredible accomplishment considering the hours she is expected to devote to our Division I athletic program. Aside from being a top engineering student, she is one of the best outfielders in the MAAC. In Adriana Gambino, you will find a quality young woman with old-fashioned values and good character. She understands the value of hard work and the dividends of a strong work ethic.”
