Classroom

Adrien Awana is a management major who maintained a 3.63 GPA in his first year at Manhattan College, highlighted by an impressive 3.87 in the spring semester.

Character

Awana is a lead-by-example student-athlete who set the tone during Manhattan’s school-record 12-win campaign in 2018. His quiet, workmanlike demeanor and presence solidified a powerful defense that yielded just 12 goals all season.

Community

Awana has participated in various Manhattan College activities such as the St. Baldrick’s fundraiser and the Relay for Life to raise money for the fight against cancer. Awana and the men’s soccer team also participated in community clean-ups in spring.

Competition

Awana was a 2018 All-MAAC First Team selection. Last season he tied for second on the team with four goals and delivered three game-winning scores. He made 16 appearances on the season, starting 15 matches. He also scored his first-career stateside goal at Sacred Heart last year, added another strike in the 5-1 win at VMI and tallied the game-deciding goal in the 2-0 win over Saint Joseph’s. He also headed in a corner kick in the 90th minute to lift Manhattan to a 1-0 triumph over No. 25 Fordham last season, which was Manhattan’s first victory ever against a ranked opponent. The score earned him MAAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. This year, he was voted to the All-MAAC preseason team.
