Character

Bentley is serving as team captain for this season. And while this is only her first year as an official team captain, Bentley has consistently brought leadership to the Lady Lions both on and off the court. She is a positive person and a positive influence on her teammates. She always brings out the best in the people around her, not just her teammates, but the staff as well. She is always willing to go the extra mile and spend the extra time at practice in order to improve herself and her teammates.

Community

Bentley has been involved in several community service projects in her time at Penn State. Among her community service experiences, Bentley has painted houses as part of the United Way Day of Caring, served as a spotter for Easter Seals therapeutic horseback riding lessons for children, volunteered at local elementary schools and the YMCA, and works at the school’s annual Special Olympics Basketball Clinic. Bentley and the Lady Lions are also very active in the Pink Zone (Play 4 Kay) initiative to raise money for breast cancer awareness and research. In six Pink Zone events, the Lady Lions have donated more than $562,000 to breast cancer causes and Bentley has been played a roll in helping to raise funds by attending various fundraising events (Hoop Shoot, Little Black Dress Goes Pink, etc.).

Competition

Bentley has continued the Point Guard U Tradition at Penn State, becoming the seventh member of the elite group since 1984. She has amassed a myriad of awards in her first three seasons at Penn State, including the 2013 Wade Trophy Watch List, 2013 Wooden Award Top 30, 2013 Naismith Early Season Watch List, 2013 Big Ten Preseason Co-Player of the Year, 2012 WBCA Honorable Mention All-America, two-time All-Big Ten first team, 2012 Big Ten All-Defensive Team, 2011 USA Basketball World University Games Trials, 2010 Big Ten All-Freshman Team and 2010 Full Court Press Freshman All-America Third Team. She has joined an elite group, becoming just the fifth player in Big Ten history and second in school history to amass 1,500 points, 500 assists and 250 steals.
