He was a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree last season and also earned Academic All-MAC honors. He is a three-year member of Kent State’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and is the currently the president of SAAC.

Character

Miklos is a team leader on and off the field. He was selected by his teammates to be a captain for the 2015 season but has been a leader throughout his career at Kent State. After suffering an injury late last season, he was extremely supportive of his teammates and was the loudest guy in the dugout cheering on the team and getting them riled up. This fall, when a team member was struggling, Alex met with him on his own time outside of mandatory practice to help his teammate improve. He did this without any request from a coach. Whenever anything is needed, Miklos is one of the first to volunteer or to help.

Community

Miklos has been a part of numerous community service initiatives that have made Kent State baseball a pillar in the local community. He was the co-emcee at this fall’s annual Jock Jams competition that raised money for local schools. He spent a Saturday morning helping make literacy kits for a program through the United Way and also spent a few Friday nights feeding the homeless in Akron, Ohio, through the organization Springtime of Hope.

Competition

Last season, Miklos hit .362, including .450 in conference play, despite missing the end of the season due to injury. He was the 2014 NCAA statistical leader in triples per game while tying the Kent State record for triples in a single season. He is currently tied for the career record in triples at Kent State. Miklos was both a first-team All-Region and first-team All-MAC selection as a junior. As a sophomore, he led the team in home runs and doubles while coming in second in triples and stolen bases. He was a crucial part of Kent State’s historic 2012 College World Series run when he was a freshman. He had the game-winning RBI on a triple in the NCAA Regional opening game against Kentucky that went 21-innings.
