Classroom

Alexandra Elston has a 3.89 grade point average as a speech and hearing major. She was named Pac-10 academic first team in 2008 and 2009. She also earned ESPN The Magazine all-district (first team) and NSCAA/adidas all-region (second team) honors.

Character

Elston is an unselfish player who, although highly skilled, is willing to fill in any role to help her team be successful. She has the same unselfish attitude off the field and carries the same high level of commitment to success both in the classroom and on the field.

Community

Elston has participated in various community projects with her team, including ASU Cares and Pat’s Run.

Competition

According to ASU head coach Kevin Boyd: “Alexandra has some of the best feet I have ever seen. Her ability to dribble and hold a ball and beat people is unbeleiveable. Her strike with both feet is outstanding. It is paced well, it is hit hard enough that many times she will hit a ball and the keeper won’t move and it’s coming back off the net to the goalkeeper. She can do that with both feet. Last year she showed that she could become a go-to player. She started scoring critical goals on set pieces with her head, which was something else she added to her game. In terms of total impact this is a player who everyone should keep an eye on. She is fun to watch, but she is also going to be a very hard player for opponents to try and take out of the game.” Elston has started all 60 of ASU’s contests the last three seasons and was named to the Pac-10’s All-Freshman Team in 2007 and All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention in 2009. She enters the 2010 season tied for sixth on ASU’s all-time list for career game-winning goals (6). In 2009 she earned All-Pac-10 honorable mention and NSCAA All-Region (third team) honors for a season in which she started all 20 games and led the team in points (20) and goals (7) and tied for the team lead in assists (6).
