Classroom

A three-year starter at libero, McCurdy has maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.433 during her time at Duke while majoring in Sociology with a minor in Cultural Anthropology and a certificate in Markets and Management studies. She earned Capital One Academic All-District III honors in 2012 and is a three-time member of both the All-ACC Academic Volleyball Team and the ACC Academic Honor Roll.

Character

Her irreplaceable contributions on the court, outstanding academic resume and numerous contributions in the Durham community make McCurdy the quintessential representative of Duke University. A respected leader and unselfish teammate, her strength of character is readily apparent both on and off the court.

Community

The Duke volleyball program has long been an advocate of community service, and McCurdy has participated in numerous community service efforts. She has visited local elementary schools and read to classes as part of Duke’s award-winning “Read with the Blue Devils” program in addition to serving as a tutor for young students. McCurdy has also spent time at The Forest at Duke, visiting elderly citizens and organizing games of carpet volleyball, and taken part in a “Field Day” at Duke for disabled elementary school kids to come out and play. On the court, she has used volleyball to raise money for multiple sclerosis research through Duke’s Pennies for Points program.

Competition

One of the top players in program history, McCurdy earned her second consecutive ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2012 after she ended the season with 672 digs, breaking the school record for the second time in as many seasons. McCurdy also led the ACC, averaging 5.25 digs per set as a junior en route to her third career AVCA Honorable Mention All-America, All-East Region and All-ACC accolades. The only Duke player to average over five digs per set for her career, she in on the verge of becoming just the second Blue Devil to top 2,000 career digs and needs just 256 digs to break the school career record.
