Classroom

DeHaan is a pre-med/human biology major with a 3.44 cumulative grade point average.  She is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and has twice been named ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District.

Character

DeHaan enters the year as a captain for the Spartan squad.  A genuine and caring person of high moral character, DeHaan is beloved by her Spartan fans and continually spends time interacting with them.

Community

DeHaan engages in numerous service activities in the Greater Lansing community.  DeHaan, along with the rest of her Spartan teammates, have a working relationship, most notably with the MSUCHI (Michigan State University Children’s Health Initiative), Sparrow and W3 (Women Working Wonders) foundations, in addition to going to events with fellow Spartan student-athletes through the MSU Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS) department. Outside of MSU, DeHaan has been on retreats to ravaged areas, helping to build shelter to those in need.

Competition

Already the Big Ten and Michigan State career blocked shots leader, DeHaan is on pace to break the NCAA record this season, entering the season in eighth with 402.  One of only five to rank among the MSU career top-10 leaders in both points and rebounds, DeHaan enters the season ninth with 1,298 points and seventh with 726 rebounds.  DeHaan is a three-time All-Big Ten and All-Big Ten Defensive Team selection.  She also holds the school’s single-season and single-game blocks records. In her first three seasons at MSU, DeHaan has led the team in rebounds and blocks each season, in addition to leading the team in scoring as a sophomore and finishing second her other two seasons.
