Alyssa Davila is on track to graduate with a degree in psychology and hopes to work with children after graduation. She holds a 2.798 cumulative GPA and was named Student-Athlete of the Month in February 2009.

Character

Davila fully accepted her role coming off the bench and has been a vocal and supportive team leader on the field and off. She underwent compartment syndrome (calf) surgery before her junior season and knee surgery before her senior season and is working hard to successfully rehab both injuries and stay fit to return to full action. She is active in organizing team Bible studies and in getting teammates involved with campus and community volunteer organizations.

Community

A member of numerous volunteer organizations and projects around USC and the Los Angeles community, Davila is active as a member and in leadership within Athletes in Action, a campus Christian group for student-athletes; serves as a Student-Athlete Academic Committee representative within USC’s SAAS department; is involved in USC’s SCORE initiative active in outreach programs in the community; is a volunteer tutor with Central City Community Outreach, and is on the leadership committee for Cry Out, a community service organization. Through Athletes in Action, she is involved in Urban Project as a volunteer; serves on the Athletic Prevention Programming and Leadership Education (APPLE) team on campus, and is working with student-athletes and the administration to formulate alcohol education policy.

Competition

Davila was part of an NCAA championship team at USC as a freshman. She is the team’s top scorer in 2009 after returning from injury. She came off the bench to score a team-high nine goals and serve a team-high five assists. She has led the team in game-winning goals for the past three seasons, ranking No. 3 all-time in career game-winners with 11 to date. Davila begins 2010 ranked No. 9 all-time at USC in career points (50) and career goals (21). She was named to the 2009 NSCAA All-Region Second Team and 2009 All-Pac-10 Second Team as a junior.
