West Virginia midfielder Amanda Hill is double majoring in exercise physiology and animal and nutritional science while minoring in sport and exercise psychology. Hill holds an impressive GPA of 3.97, and her academic achievements include the following: Academic All-Big 12 Soccer First Team (twice), 2013 Capital One Academic All-District Second Team and Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team. Along with Hill’s impressive list of academic listings she was also on the President’s and Dean’s Lists, Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll and WVU Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll.

Character

Hill is a two-time team captain (2014, 2015). She commands respect for teammates through actions. Hill is labeled the “on-field coach” by Head Coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. Hill is always willing to do anything asked of her, including media obligations. Hill displays leadership through evenly dividing time between classroom, competition field and community service projects. She also participated in a mission trip with YWAM – Youth With a Mission – to Thailand in April, 2013.

Community

Hill has committed extensive hours to community service throughout her time at West Virginia. Her experience includes being a dog walker for the Washington (Pa.) Area Humane Society (about 100 hours), volunteering at Cheat Lake Animal Hospital and the Avian Conservation Center of Appalachia (about 400 hours via an unpaid internship), volunteering for WVU women’s soccer camps and annual 4v4 breast cancer tournament (about 120 hours), and serving as a volunteer handler for Hearts of Gold Service Dog Organization (about 100 hours). Hill also has been involved with multiple WVU ExPhys Club activities (30 hours). All of Hill’s impressive service hours accumulated after arriving at WVU in 2012.

Competition

Hill has started all 65 career matches as defensive center midfield. With her key position, Hill has helped WVU win three straight Big 12 Conference regular-season titles and back-to-back Big 12 Soccer Championship titles (2013, 2014). Hill also has helped WVU qualify for three straight NCAA Tournaments. Hill was a 2013 All-Big 12 Second Team honoree. She has five career goals and six career assists for 16 career points and has helped the WVU defense post 31 shutouts since 2012 (through Aug. 23, 2015). Hill also ranked No. 5 on the team in minutes played in 2014 and 2013. Hill has made crucial assists throughout her time at West Virginia, one being a game-winning goal vs. No. 15 Texas Tech in 2014 and the other an equalizer at Oklahoma in 2013. WVU went on to win the match in double-overtime and clinch the Big 12 regular-season title. Her first career assist came on game-winner at Kansas in 2012, and her first career game-winning goal came in win vs. Oklahoma in 2012.
