DeMichiei also is a recipient of the Kohler Award Scholarship and the Marquette University Ignatius Academic Scholarship.

Character

DeMichiei is intelligent, driven and extremely tough. He’s improved from year to year because of his resolve, high IQ and consistent demeanor. He is the teammate that works diligently to build relationships with each person on his team. His teammates describe him as the person who will help run through an extra drill or take time to explain a concept or play on the sidelines. DeMichiei is very willing to share his knowledge and put that to use as a tutor in the athletic department.

Community

DeMichiei has been involved in a wide variety of community service activities including helping with the Milwaukee Eagles, a wheelchair lacrosse team full of local disabled and able-bodied veterans. He has worked with Jakub West through the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation and participated in MU initiatives since he has been on campus. He has participated in set-up and support for charity walk/runs, including the Starry Night 8.5k for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and Al’s Run & Walk for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. DeMichiei has volunteered his time helping grow the game of lacrosse by teaching the sport in Prato, Italy, and at the Milwaukee Academy of Science. He also assisted with the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy in his native Pittsburgh as well as the St. Benedict the Moor Soup Kitchen.

Competition

DeMichiei broke onto the scene as a junior in 2016 as the third-leading point producer (26) and fourth-leading scorer (17 goals) for a team that won the BIG EAST tournament to earn the No. 6 seed in the NCAA Championship. The BIG EAST title win over No. 1 Denver and NCAA appearance were both program firsts for Marquette. DeMichiei helped MU claim the BIG EAST crown with a hat trick in the league semis over then-No. 16 Villanova and a pair of goals in the upset at Denver. The Pittsburgh native also set a new Marquette record with a seven-goal effort in a win at St. John’s last season, which earned him Epoch/Lacrosse Magazine National Player of the Week honors.
