Classroom

Guile carried a 3.220 GPA throughout her undergraduate studies, earning her degree in special education-mild/moderate disabilities in December of 2011. She was a first-team academic All-Big 12 selection in 2011 and earned four spots on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll during Nebraska’s time in the league. Guile also earned an honors academic medallion at the 2009 Nebraska student-athlete recognition banquet and took home a high honors academic medallion in 2011. She was also the recipient of the Richard Raimondi Memorial Scholarship last season.

Character

Guile’s character is evident both on and off the field. On the field, she is a leader for the Huskers and a team-first player. She entered the program as a catcher, but selflessly moved to first base last season to help the team and played a key role in Nebraska posting its best finish in five seasons. Guile has also had to overcome injury during her career. An elbow injury forced her to redshirt during the 2010 season, but she overcame the injury to earn all-conference and all-region honors the following season at the highly-demanding catcher position. Off the field, Guile received Nebraska’s HERO leadership award in 2010.

Community

Guile is an active member of the community, volunteering her time in several different ways. She has been active in volunteering for youth softball leagues and working with special-needs children. Guile has also volunteered her time at other youth-oriented events, as well as volunteering at an assisted living home and serving as a mentor for the past four years. She also served as a two-year volunteer to raise money for the Friendship Home, which provides support and shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. Guile has also been active in the community as part of Nebraska’s team efforts, including participating in walks and fundraisers to raise money for cancer research. Her efforts helped the softball team take home top honors in the NCAA-sponsored Life Skills team competition for the 2010-11 school year, which annually honors Nebraska’s most active team in the community.

Competition

Guile is Nebraska’s most experienced player entering the 2012 season, having started 163 games. She was one of 50 players named to the USA Softball Player-of-the-Year watch list in 2011 and earned first-team all-conference honors, second-team all-region accolades and a Big 12 Player-of-the-Week honor in 2010. She boasts a .308 career batting average with 27 doubles, 83 RBIs, 79 walks, a .432 on-base percentage and a .987 fielding percentage. Guile owns two school records and her numbers from the 2010 season ranked fourth in Nebraska history in doubles, sixth in walks and eighth in batting average. On the Husker career charts, Guile ranks third in hit-by-pitches, sixth in walks and 17th in batting average.
