Ashley Rosch has maintained an impressive 3.81 cumulative grade-point average, while majoring in environmental health. She has been named a Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete First Team selection following each of the past two seasons, while being named to the MVC and AFNI honor rolls in each of her semesters on campus. Rosch was also named the MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week on Dec. 3, 2014. She has also earned the MVC’s Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award each of the past two academic years.

Character

Rosch has served as leader from the moment she stepped on campus. Her approach to every workout, every practice and every match demonstrates the right way to do something to her teammates. Although her leadership to-date has primarily been by example, Rosch has become a more vocal leader, helping her teammates to play to their fullest potential. As the team’s only senior in 2015, and with more than half of the team comprised of players new to the program, Rosch has elevated her leadership, setting an example and providing the necessary guidance and encouragement that her new teammates need.

Community

Rosch has been at the forefront of the Illinois State volleyball team’s community service efforts, volunteering her time in several different capacities but most notably with Westminster Retirement Home and Clare House food drive. She has also volunteered for several on-campus events, including Taste of Redbirds and the Walk of Champions.

Competition

Rosch has been a three-time All-MVC First Team selection and was an American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region selection in 2014. She is a two-time MVC All-Tournament Team selection, and was named Tournament MVP last year. She has been named to six all-tournament teams during her career, in addition to being a three-time MVC Preseason All-Conference Team pick. She has led her team in kills in all three of her seasons as a member of the team, while also ranking among the team leaders in digs and blocks, as a full-rotation player. Rosch played an instrumental role in helping the Redbirds win their first MVC regular-season and tournament titles in 17 seasons last fall, while the Redbirds became just the third MVC team to post an undefeated season in league play. ISU used a program-record 23-match winning streak to earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament, where the team scored a 3-2 win over Marquette in the opening round, after overcoming an 0-2 deficit. Rosch tallied 12 kills and a career-high 23 digs in the NCAA Tournament win over Marquette, which was the program’s first NCAA Tournament win away from Redbird Arena.
