Classroom

Aubrey boasts a 3.92 GPA - the highest on the team - while majoring in health and exercise science and minoring in both chemistry and biology. She was named to the Capital One Academic All-America Team in 2012, becoming Wake Forest’s first-ever women’s soccer Academic All-American. Aubrey has been selected to the All-ACC Academic Team and the ACC Honor roll three times and has made the Dean’s List in all six of her semesters at Wake Forest. She frequently helps her teammates with their schoolwork and is a mentor to the younger members of the team.

Aubrey is studying a pre-med curriculum and hopes to attend medical school after her playing career is over.

Character

Aubrey Bledsoe came to Wake Forest as a “recruited walk-on” and has gone on to earn All-American and All-ACC honors in addition to being a member of the United States U-23 National Team Player Pool. She has since earned the Wake Forest team captaincy and a full scholarship by having an incredible work ethic and impeccable character.

She is a positive role model for the women’s soccer team and leads by example by participating in virtually every community service event held at Wake Forest and encouraging team members to stay involved in volunteering. Aubrey has earned the respect of her teammates by being a compassionate leader. She is also a well respected student, volunteering her time this past summer to do nutritional research in the Health and Exercise Department.

Community

Aubrey is an active member of Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and is a part of SAAC’s ‘Campus and Community’ committee. In 2012-13, Aubrey participated in a number of community service projects, including Project Pumpkin, which offers a Halloween experience for children on Wake Forest’s campus; D.E.S.K., where Wake Forest students paint customized desks for elementary schoolers; and Field Hockey’s Melanoma Awarness Dodgeball Tournament. She also volunteered with kids at Vacation Bible School and coached children at El Nido Soccer Camp.  Aubrey is also very active in supporting student-athletes in other sports, spending a number of hours at Athletes Supporting Athletes events.

Competition

Aubrey is the best goalkeeper ever to play at Wake Forest and one of the top players in the country at her position. A two-time All-American, she already holds the Wake Forest career records for shutouts (25), goals against average (0.92) and minutes played heading into her senior season. Aubrey’s accomplishments on the soccer field are legion. As a freshman, she stopped three penalty kicks in the ACC Championship Game shootout to lead the Demon Deacons to their first ACC title, earning tournament MVP honors. As a sophomore she was the lone goalkeeper voted to the All-ACC First Team, a de facto nod as the conference’s goalkeeper of the year, and went on to help Wake Forest to its first NCAA College Cup. As a junior, she took over first place in the school record books in a number of categories, and now, as a senior, she has stepped in to a prominent leadership role as co-captain. A starter of every single game since arriving at Wake Forest as a freshman, she has been a major part of the Demon Deacons’ rise to national prominence over the past three seasons.
