Classroom

Berry is an outstanding student-athlete, striving to excel in the classroom and on the field.  Berry completed his undergraduate degree in Communications in December 2010 and is currently pursuing his master’s degree is Justice Administration.  While balancing the demands of graduate school and athletics, Berry has maintained a 3.66 cumulative GPA. Through his hard word and determination, he has been named to the Athletic Directors Honor Roll, Red & Black Scholarly Athlete, Dean’s List and Big East All-Academic Team.

Character

Berry is a tremendous young man who consistently meets high expectations with strength and resilience. He has earned the respect among his peers and coaches through his hard work and dedication to excellence. He understands the concept of teamwork and works well with others to accomplish common goals. Berry is a vocal leader both on and off the soccer field.

Community

Berry has participated in a lot of community service in his time here at Louisville.  Most recently he and his teammates trained at the Edge Outreach Center here in Louisville, learning to install water filtration systems for countries without clean water.  They traveled to Brazil to teach a town how to install a water filtration unit.  They also trained another team how to install one and take it on a hospital boat that moves through the Amazon River.  Also during their time in Brazil, they held a free soccer clinic for the kids and adults in San Paulo.  Most recently Berry and some teammates participated in a soccer clinic for kids with disabilities.  They showed the kids basic soccer skills and provided them with a lot of encouragement.

Competition

Berry is a returning All-American and one of the top center backs in the country. He is dangerous around the goal on set pieces, scoring most of his goals off headers. As a junior he started 23 games for the Cardinal defense. He was named an NSCAA Second Team All-American, a second team Soccer America MVP, a second team College Soccer News All-American and was named to the third team Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Season. He earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year honors and was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team, the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team, the NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region first team and the NCAA College Cup All-Tournament Team.
