In the classroom, Bianca Boggs posts a 3.28 GPA in her major of geology. She is set to graduate with her degree in May. For her efforts, Boggs was named to the CAA Commissioner Award for her GPA after last season.

Character

A high character person, Boggs has been named a team captain for her senior season. At the conclusion of last season, Boggs was named the winner of the Coaches Award, which is a team award given to the player that demonstrates what the staff is looking for in a Tribe women’s basketball player. She is the secretary of her sorority, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and Boggs spends her time volunteering with her team and sorority.

Community

An active member of the Williamsburg community with both her team and her sorority, Boggs gives what free time she has to serving others. Working with her teammates, she helps to spearhead volunteering efforts with the Williamsburg Arc, which helps adults in the area with special needs. She and her teammates volunteer by running an annual basketball clinic, working the Arc 5K walks, and then helping with the Williamsburg Alzheimer’s walk. With her sorority, she has helped raise money and collect supplies for the March of Dimes, participated in the March of Dimes walk, partnered with the American Cancer Association to raise donations for their Wig Program, served at local retirement homes and cleaned the community through the Adopt-A-Spot program.

Competition

Boggs enjoyed a breakout year as she became the first Tribe player in a decade to earn first-team All-CAA honors as a junior. In addition to her first-team selection, Boggs earned a spot on the All-Defensive Team. She scored 456 points, while her 15.2 points ranked second in the CAA. She added 137 rebounds (4.6 per game), 88 assists (2.9 per game), 24 blocks (0.8 per game) and 65 steals (2.2 per game). She also was named the CAA Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 29.

Boggs scored the most points in a game last year by a CAA player when she dropped a career-high of 33 points in the Tribe’s win at St. Francis (Pa.). Boggs’ junior season ranks as one of the best in school history as her 25 games in double figures ranks her fifth, her 452 points ranks her 10th, her scoring average ranks 12th, and her 155 field goals made stand at 15th. She also constructed the fifth-best double-digit scoring streak in school history when she was in double figures in 15 straight games from Dec. 17 to Feb. 11.

For her career, Boggs has scored 925 career points and is on pace to become the 20th player in school history to record her 1,000th career point. She was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team following her freshman season.
