Dean is a general studies major at LSU and is working toward finishing his degree requirements this year.
Character
Though he was drafted in the 10th round last season by the Minnesota Twins, Dean elected to return to LSU for his senior season. He is the acknowledged leader of an LSU team seeking to defend its national title in 2010.
Community
Dean regularly participates in philanthropic events, including the Buddy Walk in support of people with Down Syndrome, and the ALS Walk in support of people with Lou Gehrig’s disease. He also participates in hospital and school visits in the Baton Rouge area.
Competition
Dean is a 2008 first-team All-American and a 2009 first-team All-Southeastern Conference performer. He is recognized as one of the top sluggers in LSU’s rich baseball history.
