Classroom

One of only two seniors on Purdue’s 2019 roster, Blake Mohler is only one class away from graduating with a bachelor’s degree in management. She is a three-time academic All-Big honoree who has maintained a GPA higher than 3.30 throughout her collegiate career.

Character

This season, Purdue Head Coach Dave Shondell has instilled a “player-led” team-mentality, and redshirt senior, Mohler, has stepped up to the plate. A leader on and off the court, Mohler sets a tone of hard work, discipline and family for Purdue volleyball. Putting in 100-percent dedication, she is always the first one in and the last one out of the gym. She also makes a point to check in on her teammates and their wellbeing, especially with helping the freshmen adjust to the transition from high school to college. Her actions have helped a young Purdue squad not only find confidence in itself, but also in each other.

Community

Mohler is an active member of the Boilermaker community working with Friends of Jacklyn and Relay for Life, while helping to promote a love of reading at local preschool and elementary schools in West Lafayette and Lafayette, Indiana.

Competition

A 2018 All-America Third Team selection, Mohler started off her senior season as a Preseason All-Big Ten selection. It was the first 2019 honor for Mohler, who collected All-Big Ten First Team recognition last year as a junior.

In 2018, Mohler guided Purdue’s defensive efforts at the net with 1.08 stuffs per set, while also sitting sixth in the Big Ten with a team-best 0.358 hitting percentage. Her 140 total blocks ranked sixth in the league and 43rd in the NCAA. In conference action, she ranked among the top 15 blockers with a 0.95 stuffs-per-set average and was 10th with a .321 attack clip. A returning starter for Purdue, Mohler also ranked third on the team with 316 kills for a 2.43 kills-per-set average while adding 46 digs, 10 assists and one service ace on the season. Most recently, the Ocean Springs, Mississippi, native represented the Boilermakers on the U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team in Anaheim, Calif., this past summer.

As a sophomore, Mohler ranked second the team with 101 blocks (15 solo/86 assists) and fourth with 224 kills.
