Brendan Harms was a 2015 WCHA Scholar-Athlete selection and a two-time WCHA All-Academic Team honoree with a 4.00 GPA in business administration and a minor in human performance. He is a regular on BSU dean’s List, was the 2014-15 BSU Scholar-Athlete Award winner and is a member of the BSU Athletics 3.0 Club.

Character

Voted the 2016-17 alternate captain by his peers, Harms is consistently called upon by media as the spokesman of the team due to his well-spoken, honest personality. He is a fan favorite and great role model for young Beaver fans.

Community

Harms has volunteered with the Bemidji Area Boy’s and Girl’s Club and BSU’s Campus Clean-up Project. He has assisted fellow students during BSU’s fall move in and participated in the suicide prevention walk. Harms also spent time playing hockey with elementary students at Heartland Christian Academy during recess.

Competition

Through nomination time, Harms had accumulated 71 points (28g-43a) in 114 games, which includes topping the 20-point plateau in each of his first three seasons at BSU. He opened his career with 21 points (7g-14a) as a freshman. Following his sophomore season Harms earned All-WCHA Third Team honors after posting 21 points (10g-11a) to sit second on the Beavers in scoring list despite missing nine games to injury. As a junior, he tied for the team’s scoring lead with 25 points (8g-17a), and recorded a career-high 17 assists to lead the team. A valuable player for BSU in all situations, he was fourth on the team with six points on the power play (3g-3a) and had 14 blocked shots. So far this season, he leads BSU in power-play goal scoring.
