Classroom

Graduated Summa Cum Laude in May 2007 with a degree in Finance and a minor in Economics and held an undergraduate GPA of 3.975. The only ‘B’ he received was an AP credit transferred from his high school. He currently holds a 4.0 graduate GPA in Business Administration and has already accepted a job with Deloitte and Touche in Dallas, Texas, which he will start once the season is over. He has been named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll all nine semesters he has been at K-State and was named to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America third team, as well as the 2007 Academic All-District VII first team. He also earned First Team Academic All-Big 12 honors as a sophomore in 2006 and a junior in 2007.

Character

Is one of just five seniors on the 2008 squad and has been a mentor to the underclassmen on the team. The underclassmen look up to Brett for guidance not only on the field, but in the classroom as well.

Community

Is currently serving his third term as the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) President… SAAC is heavily involved in the community through various charitable activities, including “Cats for Cans Food Drive” which benefits the Flint Hills Breadbasket to fight hunger in the Manhattan area, “Read to Achieve”, a partnership between K-State Athletics and Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School where student-athletes read to the children or assist teachers with daily classroom activities and “Adopt-a-Family” where each athletic team provides holiday gifts to families who would otherwise be without during the holiday season. Brett, along with each athletic teams’ representatives, plan the activities and encourage student-athletes to give time back to the community.

Competition

Scott has played in 100 career games, starting 63. He has committed just seven errors in 288 total chances for a career fielding percentage of .976. He tallied just one error in 106 total chances in 2007. Is extremely efficient in situational hitting, producing 12 career sacrifice hits (ninth in school history) and four career sacrifice hits. He holds a career average of .262 with six doubles, one home run and 34 RBI. Has eight career stolen bases in just 10 attempts. Head coach Brad Hill says that Brett “provides great stability and leadership at second base. He knows where to be and helps direct traffic.”
