Character

Brianna Lore is an intelligent, passionate and dedicated individual who has helped build a tradition of excellence for Saint Louis softball. Throughout her career as a student-athlete, Lore’s dedication has paved the way for success in both education and softball. One of her greatest attributes is an ability to sustain balance in her life. Because of this, she exemplifies the term student-athlete in every way. In SLU’s communication sciences and disorders program, she thoroughly utilizes every minute of her experience to increase her knowledge of the profession. On the field, especially in the pitching circle, Lore holds the game in her hands and thrives on its mental and physical challenges while displaying a composed, calm presence amid constant pressure. She leads not only by occupying a vital position on the field, but also by her example and her commitment to the program.

Lore’s exceptional character also reveals itself in her passion for working with and helping others. She connects exceedingly well with children of all ages and abilities in various settings, from working with young players at softball clinics to volunteering with special-needs children. She is a gifted teacher who cares deeply, which leads to trust and ultimately to positive responses from those she is instructing.

Lore’s coaches have challenged her to be a primary leader on a team that aspires to reach an unprecedented level of success. They issued that challenge because she possesses the character and leadership skills necessary to elevate herself and her teammates to greater heights.

Community

Community service is a major component in the lives of many Saint Louis student-athletes, and Lore has been among the leaders in this area throughout her Billiken career. She has logged more than 50 hours of volunteer service in various community outreach programs including with special-needs children, animal shelters and homeless shelters. Since coming to SLU she has joined other student-athletes in volunteering with St. Louis’ Special Needs Soccer Association. Lore also has volunteered at the Montessori School in her hometown of Sullivan, Missouri. She joined her teammates in working on environmental projects as part of SLU’s annual Make-A-Difference Day and assisted in preparing meals for under-served individuals at Campus Kitchen in St. Louis.

Lore owns Saint Louis University career pitching records for wins and starts. At the beginning of the 2016 season, she ranked among SLU’s career top 10 in innings (second), appearances (second), complete games (third), ERA (fourth), saves (fourth), strikeouts (sixth) and shutouts (sixth). She led the A-10 in starts and was second in wins; third in strikeouts, innings and shutouts; fourth in strikeouts-to-walks ratio and complete games; fifth in ERA; and sixth in appearances.
