Classroom

After receiving a medical redshirt as a true freshman, Brittany Hitchcock graduated in the fall of 2016 in just 3.5 years with a B.A. in family resources and a 3.89 undergrad GPA. She made the dean’s list every semester at UH and is on track to earn her master’s degree in educational psychology in May 2019 after receiving a second medical redshirt last year as a senior. Hitchcock currently holds a 3.97 GPA in graduate school. In 2017-18, Hitchcock earned Big West Scholar Athlete of the Year for the conference.

Character

Hitchcock is an exceptional student-athlete with an incredible work ethic. She has served as one of the softball team’s captains for four years while being the anchor of the UH pitching rotation. She is a great role model and has served as an academic mentor for the last three years at UH’s Nagatani Academic Center, helping current student-athletes deal and cope with the difficulties of being a Division I student-athlete.

Community

Hitchcock has served as the SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) chair for UH and has helped chair several community service projects. Two of these projects include the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and three annual Manoa Lions Club Holiday Parades. She also helped with the Suds for Life program in which student-athletes bring back toiletries from their road trips throughout the season to donate to local charities.

Hitchcock also has participated in the Bishop Museum Kids Fest for four of the years she has been at UH, several Rainbow Reading Days at various local elementary schools, the local Parkinson’s Charity Walk and with a Jump Rope for Heart event at a local elementary school. She also helped chair the Big West Conference’s Hawaii Coin Drive and has served as a SAAC member for five years and attended the Big West Conference’s SAAC retreat representing Hawaii. Last year, while serving as the SAAC co-chair, she led the group’s bimonthly meetings. She loves giving back in any way possible, especially working with children and mothers, which she plans to be a major focus in her future career goals.

Competition

Hitchcock has been the anchor for the UH pitching rotation since her redshirt freshman season. Twice she was named to the NFCA All-West Region Third Team (2015 and 2016), and she was also voted to the All-Big West First Team in 2017 and the All-Big West Second Team in 2015 and 2016. For her career, she has appeared in 108 games and has compiled a 55-38 career record with a 2.10 ERA in 609.1 innings pitched. She has fired 67 complete games with 18 career shutouts and has recorded 399 career strikeouts to just 97 walks.
