Character

You would be hard-pressed to find a student-athlete that matches the definition of the cliché “leader on and off the field” better than Lastrapes. Her constant positive attitude and mature approach to the game set a great example for the younger players on the team. A team-first player, Lastrapes slept in the dugout between innings during the Women’s College World Series because of mononucleosis, but battled through the illness to play every pitch of the postseason.

Community

While community service has always been a priority to Arizona softball, the team is taking even greater steps this year to participate in the community. In addition to team projects, Lastrapes has visited a youth softball team and elementary schools to talk about the importance of academics, the life of a student-athlete and how to succeed in college. She visited hospitalized youth at University Medical Center and helped with yardwark at a local home for low-income senior citizens. In her fourth year at Arizona, she has completed 46.5 hours of community service.

Competition

Lastrapes’ arsenal of offensive weapons makes her one of the most feared hitters in the nation. The three-time All-American can do it all at the dish: slap to get on base, hit for power or attack the gaps. Once she gets on base, her speed makes her a threat to score every time. Her career numbers including a .422 batting average with 40 home runs and 160 RBIs.
