Classroom

Brittany Lewis is a second-team Academic All-American for her hard work in the classroom to own a 3.63 GPA last year. She also was selected as an All-SLC Academic Team honoree in 2015 and chosen for the Capitol One Academic All-District First Team as a sophomore. She was selected as a State Farm Academic Player of the Week during the 2016 season.

Character

To Lewis, character is everything, and she tries to hold herself and her team to a different standard. Her goal in life is to pursue excellence in all that she does. Whether that be on the field, in the classroom, home life or friendships, Lewis wants anything that she is a part of to be done correctly. If you were to ask her classmates or teammates to describe her character in one word, they would likely say “committed.” Lewis is dedicated in all that she does and any teacher, classmate, coach, or teammate will tell you that Lewis puts her heart and soul into everything she is a part of so she can be the best, and the people around her can be as well. Lewis can lead by words, but her true pride in leading is being a leader by example.

Community

In her time at SFA, Lewis has had the opportunity to work with the community of Nacogdoches on many occasions. One of her favorite places to volunteer at is the Boys and Girls Club of Nacogdoches, and getting to know the kids has been a highlight of her time at SFA. At this center not only did Lewis get to be active and play with the kids, but also she was able to help tutor and aid students in homework.

Lewis has also organized and participated in one of her classes giving a Thanksgiving meal to a family in need. This opportunity was put on by the school and by a school organization, where the class could donate food items to a family in Nacogdoches that couldn’t afford a traditional Thanksgiving meal. She created a class sign-up list, organized and received all materials, and made sure the family had all the fixing to go with it.

Christmastime is one of her favorite times of the year, and she has had the opportunity to personally spread Christmas cheer. Each year Lewis is an active participant in the Angel Tree and always sponsors a child in town. Her freshman year, she organized a team Angel Tree for a boy and girl, and from each year going forward, Lewis has made it a Christmas tradition to sponsor a child in need.

Competition

Lewis was the most awarded player in 2016 and for good reason. The senior has been selected to the NFCA All-Central Region Second Team, is two-time first-team All-Conference recipient (2015, 2016), as well as a second-team selection her freshman year. Lewis held a team high batting average (.368) with 29 runs, 12 doubles, two triples and 11 home runs, which led her to be selected as the Southland Conference runner-up for Hitter of the Year. Lewis shattered two of her own school records last season after starting all 57 games last year. She broke her own single season RBI record for SFA with a whopping 53 RBIs, and reset her total RBIs to 138 career RBI, also a school record.
