Neufeld maintains a 2.94 GPA and is on track to graduate in May with his degree in Finance. Neufeld aspires to continue playing lacrosse professionally, but he’s also interested in obtaining a job in finance.

Character

Neufeld has had to overcome several obstacles to get where he is today. He did not start playing outdoor lacrosse until the ninth grade and was very lightly recruited coming out of high school. In fact, Siena was one of only two Division I programs that recruited Neufeld. “Bryan loves the game of lacrosse and more specifically scoring goals as much as anybody I have seen,” Siena coach John Svec said. “He has a natural ability that exemplifies the beauty of the game and he works hard to continue to develop that ability. His teammates follow his example, which results in them elevating their own game. His joy for this sport is infectious and can be seen anytime he sets foot on the field.”

Community

Neufeld is very active in the community and participates in Siena Athletics’ “Saints in the Community” program. Neufeld has visited and cooked several meals at the Ronald McDonald House and along with his teammates participated in Center for Disability Services telethon in each of his four years at Siena. He and his teammates have made a donation to the event each year while also answering phone calls and taking pledges. Last year, the event raised $1.96 million. Neufeld has also been active in working youth leagues and lacrosse camps both in and around Siena and at home.

Competition

A three-time first-team All-MAAC selection, Neufeld is the defending MAAC Offensive Player of the Year and also earned MAAC Rookie of the Year honors in 2009. In his three seasons at Siena, he has helped guide the Saints to a 37-16 (.698) overall record, including a pair of MAAC Championships and NCAA Tournament Appearances during his freshman and junior seasons. Last season he also led the Saints to a program-record 13 victories and a No. 20 national ranking in both the USILA Coaches’ Poll and Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll for the first time ever. Neufeld led the MAAC and ranked 10th nationally last year in scoring with 65 points on 40 goals and his five game-winning goals also led the conference. A preseason All-American honorable-mention selection by Inside Lacrosse, Neufeld was a 2011 USILA Division I All-American honorable-mention pick. Until his final game of last season, Neufeld held the nation’s longest active scoring streak, having recorded a point in each of his first 52 collegiate games. Entering this season, Neufeld leads all active players in Division I in career goals (119) and hat tricks (23).
