Classroom

Cait Craft has successfully balanced her basketball and academic commitments and has never allowed her long-term academic goals to be secondary to her talent as Division I student-athlete. She is a nutrition industry major who has been named Academic All-Big Ten each of the last two years and has been an OSU Scholar-Athlete for three years. Craft is a candidate for the nursing graduate program, which she hopes to enter after she completes her degree this May.

Character

Craft’s personal qualities are incomparable. She displays genuineness in building relationships with others and is incredibly conscientious, kind, caring and empathetic. She displays natural integrity and charm while working with others, making her exceptionally driven and an enjoyable person to be around. Craft displays continuous growth as it pertains to her refinement and character. She is organized, prompt and diligent in meeting administrative and academic tasks. Whether on the court, in the classroom, or interacting with her teammates during practices, Craft is highly regarded for her morale, energy and growth as a young adult. She projects self-confidence, authority and enthusiasm, and she shows appreciation for contributions and achievements and promotes a high degree of team morale.

Community

Craft is one of the most recognizable players on the team, and it’s not because of her ability on the court, but because she is the team’s face in the community. Whether it’s interacting with fans after games or helping young kids at post-game clinics, Craft’s enthusiasm attracts a crowd. Out in the community, she is a willing volunteer in more than just the team-related community service activities. One of her favorite programs is the 2nd and 7 Program, which brings athletes and young students in the community together. The program not only allows her to read with the students, but also affords her the opportunity to talk one-on-one with the kids and offer encouragement. Another big initiative the university has started is a program called Buckeyes Care. The program’s main mission is to make a difference in the Columbus community, and Craft is one of the leaders for the athletic department.

Competition

Craft has been a vital piece of the Buckeyes’ success in the last two years. She has started every game the last two years, and because of her hard work and leadership, she was voted a team captain for this season. She is one of the hardest workers on the court and is a leader on the defensive end. Offensively, Craft has worked tirelessly on her jump shot and was in the top-15 in school history in three-pointers made entering her senior season.
