Character

Schiller was selected by coach Rob Walton as team captain for the 2012 season for his leadership qualities and his character on and off the field.

Community

Schiller has been active in the community, participating in several charity and community-outreach events. In September, Schiller and his teammates helped organize the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure — a foundation that raises awareness and funds for research for breast cancer. He helped raise more than $900,000 for the cause. In October, Schiller took time out of his fall break and began working with the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless and the West Mabee Boys & Girls Club of Tulsa. He also spends four days a month hanging out with the kids from the Tulsa Saint Francis Children’s Hospital.

Competition

As a junior at ORU, Schiller led the Golden Eagles to the NCAA Regional Final in 2011, hitting .342 with 7 home runs and 56 RBI. He enters his senior season as a third-team preseason All-American. Before ORU, Schiller led Yavapai College to back-to-back regional championships in 2009 and 2010, and was named to first-team all-region as a sophomore and second-team as a freshman. He led the Roughriders with eight home runs and batted .383 with 53 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 2010, and as a freshman the switch-hitter batted .363 with 16 doubles and 34 RBI in 58 games.
