Camree Wartman is a communications major with a marketing minor. She currently holds a 3.59 GPA and has earned at least a 3.83 semester GPA in four of her last five semesters. Wartman also earned a 4.0 GPA in Spring 2015. She was honored as GCU Student-Athlete of the Month in April 2016, and she contributed to GCU earning the NFCA highest GPA among DI softball programs in 2016. She also was named to the Easton/NFCA Division I Scholar-Athletes team.

Character

Wartman has exemplified leadership on and off the field, and her dedication, motivation and leadership have continued to strengthen the softball program. Wartman has shown a passion for the community, commitment to the classroom and enthusiasm on the field. As the team’s leading athlete, Wartman’s work ethic and desire to improve on a daily basis has shown in her performances over the last three years. She has also served as a great mentor to underclassman.

Community

Wartman’s community service activities include the Distance for the Difference Marathon hosted by Phoenix Children’s hospital, in which the team motivated and cheered on runners. She also served at Imagine Elementary as a PE volunteer, helped at the Arizona Baptist Children’s Services foster care event and worked with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, through which she went on mission trip to Mexico and helped build a home for a family.

Competition

Wartman, a junior second baseman, earned Preseason All Western Athletic Conference honors. In 2016, she led the WAC in batting average (.392) and doubles (17), ranked second in runs (49) and total bases (106), and third in slugging percentage (.620) and hits (68). She was a 2016 first-team All-WAC honoree and finished the regular season with a .392 batting average with 17 doubles and a .662 slugging percentage. She registered hits against all nine top 75 RPI teams she faced. Wartman was 12-for-34 with three RBI, three doubles, two home runs and two walks against top RPI opponents. She also garnered All-WAC First Team honors and was named to the 2016 NFCA All-West Region Team.
