Character

“Chandra is an outstanding member of our soccer team.  She is a leader on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.  She exemplifies a great work rate, character, enthusiasm and drive.  Her teammates have recognized this and have voted her team captain.”—USU head coach Heather Cairns

Community

Salmon-Christensen helped with soccer clinics for young children in Cache Valley. She provided a free training session at the end of this past spring semester for a local soccer club and participated in an adopt-a-team program where everyone was paired with another teammate and given a team in Cache Valley to train, coach, and care for as our own. Salmon-Christensen orked at the food bank in Utah Valley loading and organizing canned foods, volunteered at the Provo food and care coalition and helped serve lunch to homeless people in the area. She provided assistance in a Provo flash flood that caused extreme flooding and damage to several homes in the neighborhood. She went with her family and helped scoop buckets of water out of the basements and garages. She spent a semester tutoring a math class for students who are struggling and assisted in a food and cooking class for disabled students. She also volunteered helping students for the Handicap LDS institute classes.

Competition

Salmon-Christensen is a three-time first-team all-WAC selection, becoming the first USU player ever to earn first-team honors in each of her first three seasons. She was named to the NSCAA all-West Region first team and in 2010, was named to the WAC all-Tournament team. She played in all 90 minutes of each of USU’s six shutout victories in 2010.
