Classroom

Cheyne Rocha is a three-time Atlantic Hockey Association Academic All-Star, posted the highest GPA among league defensemen as a junior and was named Student-Athlete of the Year. With a cumulative GPA greater than 4.0, he has been a Dean’s List student in every semester, a Rhodes Scholar candidate and ranked in top 25 of his class. He is a three-time recipient of the Distinguished Cadet Award for academic excellence and is a three-time winner of the Superintendent’s Award for excellence for ranking in top five percent of class.

Character

He overcame a serious leg injury during junior season and will serve as team captain his senior season.

Community

Rocha has been instrumental in beginning House of Blues, an awareness campaign for prostate cancer.  The event originated at West Point and is now the preferred charity of Atlantic Hockey. He had the idea and launched what is a now an annual community event. Rocha is active with the Special Olympics and Neighborhood Knights, a team group that provides community service. He also volunteers with the Army Junior Black Knights hockey program and holds a leadership position in Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Competition

A four-year contributor to the team, Rocha played in 71 games his first two seasons before injury cut short junior campaign. He earned the team’s Heinmiller Award winner for being the top freshman that embodies toughness, determination and dedication.
