Chloe Reinig has maintained a 3.18 grade-point average as an economics major through six semesters, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors in each of the two years she has been eligible. She has been invited to the Spartan Academic Excellence Gala in each of the last two years as well, and has contributed to a team GPA of better than 3.0 (3.18).

Character

As stated below, Reinig is a part of a team which does a considerable amount of community outreach in the greater Lansing area and was also voted by her team as a captain for the 2015-2016 season.

Community

As a member of a team that does a considerable amount of community outreach, Reinig has been a four-year participant in several annual events, most notably a golf outing/fundraiser for EVE (End Violent Encounters) to help raise awareness to end domestic and sexual violence. For MSU’s initiatives to raise awareness of children’s cancer, Reinig worked at hockey games to help run the “Chuck a Puck” promotion and also helped serve as a course guide at “Run for the Cure,” to help raise money for Children’s Cancer research. She read to elementary students as part of “March is Reading Month,” and she and her team undertook the landscaping at a Habitat for Humanity home in the Lansing area. In addition to the Spartans’ annual team events, Reinig was also involved in a large-scale project to help with water distribution and recycling in Flint, Mich.—a story which gained national headlines after the drinking water in the community was discovered to be contaminated with lead.

Competition

A four-year starter, Reinig was a member of the Big Ten All-Freshman Team in 2013 and earned both first-team All-Big Ten and Honorable Mention All-America honors as a sophomore in 2014. As a junior, she was a preseason All-Big Ten selection by the conference coaches, and at the end of the year was both a All-Big Ten Honorable Mention pick and an AVCA All-North Honorable Mention selection. The 2015 preseason All-Big Ten selection has twice earned all-tournament team honors in the non-conference part of the schedule.
