Classroom

Haltigin is a three-time selection to the Atlantic Hockey Association All-Academic Team. He was a 2011 recipient of the Green B. Williams award and got the team’s award for academic excellence. In 2009, he was named to the Empire 8 President’s List for maintaining a 3.75 or better GPA.

Character

Haltigin is a captain for the 2011-12 season. This is the second straight season that he has been a captain of the team. He battled through injuries in 2010-11 to play in 34 games, amassing 14 points on three goals and 11 assists.

Community

Haltigin and the Tigers have repeatedly gone to the public schools in Rochester and read to elementary school children. He and his teammates have also participated in community service projects around the Greater Rochester area as well including cleanup projects. The Tigers host a Skate with the Tigers annually where the team will don their jerseys and skate with fans young and old after a home game at Ritter Arena.

Competition

Haltigin was named to the NCAA East Regional All-Tournament Team in 2010, scoring the opening goal and assisting on the game-winning goal in RIT’s 6-2 win over New Hampshire in the NCAA East Regional Championship. He tied for sixth nationally in 2010 among all defensemen with 11 goals and set a career-high with a pair of power-play assists at No. 18 Union last season.
