Classroom

Owning a 3.57 GPA, McDonald has been named on the dean’s list at Duke for the past three semesters. She is a three-time member of the All-ACC Academic Team and has also earned NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-American Second Team and ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III Third Team.

Character

McDonald is a solid teammate, person, and role model. In May of 2006, she had brain surgery, which led to a hearing lost in one ear. McColl returned to her team as a starter in September of 2006 and works with her coaches individually two times a week outside of normal practice hours. Her surgery has not hindered her performance on the field or in the classroom.

Community

Christie is a math tutor at Spaulding Elementary School in Durham, where she works one-on-one with third grade students that lack proficiency in math skills. She is a mentor for freshman student-athletes at Duke and participates in the Read with the Blue Devils program.

Competition

In 2007, McDonald was named team captain. She has helped lead Duke to 16 shutouts on the defensive end over the last two years and over her career, she has played in 66 games, with six goals, seven assists, and 19 points.
