Competition

Oberdorf has been a two-sport athlete in her five years at Marist. In addition to her time playing softball, she has also been a member of the Marist women’s basketball team. In softball, she was named to the NFCA Top 10 Freshman list in 2016, a year in which she also was named MAAC Rookie of the Year, First Team All-MAAC, and NFCA All-Region. She was the team’s leading hitter (.376) as it set a school record with 45 wins and advanced to NCAA Tournament play. After missing her sophomore year due to a knee injury she suffered while playing on Marist’s women’s basketball team, she rebounded to earn Second Team All-MAAC selections in each of the past two seasons. Claire also played a different primary position in each of the three seasons she has been on the field for softball at this point (second base as a freshman, catcher as a red-shirt sophomore, and third base as a red-shirt junior). She figures to see action at all three positions in 2020 and she was named preseason All-MAAC. In basketball, she started every game at point guard and averaged 10.5 points per game as a sophomore. She has played in 97 career basketball games, making 53 starts.
