Colin Bonner is an outstanding student-athlete who is on track to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration this spring. He has been on the Dean’s List all six semesters at UNCW and has a 3.80 cumulative grade-point average, including a 3.833 GPA in his major. Bonner also has received the Colonial Athletic Association’s Commissioner Academic Award each fall as a student-athlete for a 3.2-plus GPA. He achieved a perfect 4.00 GPA during the Fall 2014 semester. For his efforts, Bonner earned NSCAA Scholar All-America and Midwest Scholar All-Region distinctions and was named a member of the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District III team last year.

Character

Bonner is serving as a captain for the UNCW men’s soccer team this season after helping lead the team to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last year. He has been able to balance academics with athletics despite a tough daily schedule, earning high marks in the classroom.

Community

Bonner has volunteered with many projects during his time as an UNCW student-athlete. He has helped to feed the homeless and hungry through Good Shepherd in Wilmington and has helped with Stop Hunger Now by packaging food. In addition, he helped to build a house with Habitat for Humanity and volunteered for the Color Me Rad 5K Race. In terms of soccer, he has served as a volunteer for TOPS Soccer, which gives kids with disabilities a chance to express what they love to do.

Competition

A three-year starter for Coach Aidan Heaney, Bonner earned first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association and all-state recognition after starting all 20 matches last year. He scored four goals with four assists, including game-winning markers against UNCG and Campbell. As a sophomore, he received a spot on the All-CAA second team after leading the Seahawks with six goals and 15 points. During his freshman season, Bonner was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team and finished second on the team with 14 points while scoring a team-high six goals. He has started 53 of 56 career contests and has tallied 16 goals with 9 assists.
