Colin Miller

Classroom

Colin Miller is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at Providence College. As an undergraduate, he was a psychology major and earned a certificate in business studies, graduating in 2018 with a 3.14 cumulative GPA. Miller is a four-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team Selection (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018). In 2017, he was named a BIG EAST Institutional Scholar Athlete. He received a scholarship to apply toward his graduate studies.

Character

Last year (2017-18), Miller was awarded one of the athletic department’s highest honor, the Rev. Robert A. Morris, O.P. ‘46 Memorial Award. This is given to a student-athlete who has had a profound impact on Providence College during their career. Miller is the epitome of class and carries himself extremely well all around campus. He is an excellent representative of the athletic department to the broader campus and works tirelessly to improve the department.

Community

Miller is a three-year member of Providence College’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). In the 2017-18 year he served as president. Through SAAC he worked in the community in many various capacities. He was key in organizing and pushing “You’re Never Alone in Friartown” which is a key mental health initiative. He helped bring speakers Kate Fagan and Chamique Holdsclaw to campus for an open forum. This event won Outstanding Event of the Year for the entire Providence College campus. In addition, he attended last year’s BIG EAST Mental Health Summit and was a key contributor to the program.

Competition

As of nomination time, Miller had played 36 games in net during his career as a Friar and held a 0.97 goals-against average and a .799 save percentage for his career. His record stands at 20-9-5 and has 13 total shutouts (as of nomination time). In 2016, he helped Providence reach the NCAA Elite Eight with an impressive 14-2-0 record and eight shutouts. He was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year and earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Team for his efforts. Additionally, he was selected to the NSCAA Div. I All-Great Lakes Second Team. In 2017 he was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the week twice and also earned the team’s defensive MVP award. Already this season (2018), he was selected as the BIG EAST Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year and to the SMU All-Tournament Team.
