Classroom

A consistently strong performer in the classroom, Conor Costello is a management major who maintains a 3.2 grade-point average. Costello is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 Conference First Team selection (2014-16) and has been named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll six times. He also has earned the OSU Academic Achievement Award three times.

Character

Costello is a high-character individual on and off the field. He serves on the Cowboy baseball leadership council and showed his commitment to the program by returning to OSU for his senior season after being drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in last June’s Major League Baseball Draft. In April 2015, Costello displayed his character and work ethic to return to the Cowboys’ lineup after an esophagus injury that caused him to be hospitalized for four days and miss six games. Costello is also heavily involved with and an active participant in his church.

Community

Costello serves the Stillwater community in a variety of ways, volunteering with the Salvation Army and participating in numerous activities and programs with Coaches vs. Cancer. He also spends time helping underprivileged children in his hometown of Edmond, Okla.

Competition

A three-year starter for the Cowboys, Costello has played in more than 100 games and is OSU’s active leader in home runs while ranking third among active players in RBIs. In 2015, Costello was named to the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award Watch List. An outfielder/DH as well as right-handed pitcher, he led OSU in home runs last season and also stole a career-high 13 bases. On the mound, he was 2-0 with a save and a 1.67 ERA. As a sophomore in 2014, Costello started 52 games to help lead the Cowboys to their first-ever Big 12 regular season championship. He also was named to the NCAA Stillwater Regional All-Tournament Team after helping the Cowboys to a regional title.
