Courtney Woods has twice earned Academic All-MAC honors (3.20 GPA or better) and was named a MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete in 2017.

Character

Woods is a part of the “Leadership Counsel” for the Women’s Basketball team, which oversees different aspects of the program and decision-making. She is also on the NIU Athletic Department’s Captains Council and is a member of the CAUSE group, a non-profit student organization on campus that seeks out and promotes service opportunities in the DeKalb community. Woods is also the Health Science representative on the University Council.

Community

Woods has volunteered at Hope Haven, which serves the homeless in DeKalb County. She has also volunteered at local elementary schools on Reading Day, as well as NIU women’s basketball camps and special clinics.

Competition

Woods is tied for 10th at NIU in career scoring with 1,520 points, scoring her 1,000th career point on Dec. 6, 2017, against Loyola Chicago. Woods led the MAC in scoring last season with 22.1 points per game, which is the third-highest single-season scoring average in NIU history, and earned first-team All-MAC honors. She was named MAC West Player of the Week four times, and her 664 points in the 2017-18 season were the most by a Huskie in their junior year. She was named to the MAC All-Tournament Team in 2017 and also led the conference with 105 three-pointers. Woods is also second all-time at NIU with 244 career three-pointers.
