Dan Morris

Classroom

Dan Morris graduated in May 2017 with a degree in psychology and minor in leadership studies, while maintaining a 3.6 GPA. He is currently pursuing a master of science in business and management. Morris is a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and a four-time academic all-conference recipient. He is a member of multiple academic societies: National Society of Leadership and Success, Mortar Board National Senior Honor Society, The National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Primannum Honor Society. He also received the Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Education Academic Excellence Award.

Character

A 2018 team captain, Morris is highly revered at the University of Maryland and within the men’s lacrosse program for his high character and integrity. He is incredibly reliable and an excellent mentor for younger players, proving that it is possible to achieve success on the field and in the classroom by doing things the “right” way. He has led the program’s community service directives since 2015, while twice being named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. He patiently sat on the bench for three seasons behind all-american goaltenders, preparing as if he was a starter each day like a consummate teammate.

Community

Morris is involved in various community activities including serving as the team’s community service director since 2015. In this role, he collaborates with different organizations for community service events and coordinates upwards of 60 volunteers for each event. He is involved with Team IMPACT, an organization that places kids with life-threatening illnesses into sports programs. He is also involved with Lax Stache Madness and Wreaths Across America and has volunteered at Amazing Grace Church in Baltimore, helping to maintain the property.

Competition

A member of the 2017 National Champion team, Morris was an honorable mention All-American (Inside Lacrosse) at goalkeeper. Also in 2017 he was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team and Big Ten All-Tournament Team. Morris is a two-time Big Ten Tournament champion and a three-time Big Ten regular season champion. He has earned National Player of the Week honors, as well as multiple Big Ten Player of the Week honors and has been a member of the team’s Leadership Council for two seasons.
