Character

From Tulsa Head Coach Philip Montgomery: “In my two seasons at Tulsa, Dane has shown a commitment not only on the football? field, but in the classroom and the community. As a head coach, you always want your? quarterback to be a true leader on and off the field, and that is exactly what Evans ?optimizes.”

On the football field, Evans has an opportunity to become the school’s all-time passing leader, but that is not of his concern. He is focused on his day-to-day improvement and? the team’s improvement as a whole. In the last year he has mentored? some of the younger players and has always taken the time to share his insight. Evans stays involved in the community and is receptive to every request that may be asked of him.

Community

Evans has been named to the 2016 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, one of the most coveted off-the-field honors in college football. In 2012, Evans was apart of Feed My Starving Children where he packed food that was sent overseas?. He also has read to students at Chisholm Trail Elementary School in Sanger, Texas,? and participated in Team Relief through which a group of football student-athletes were involved in pick-up after the Joplin (Missouri) tornado. He has participated in the Martin Luther King Day Parade in downtown, volunteered over six hours each semester at University School in Tulsa and volunteered at Physical Education Class at Chisholm Trail Elementary in Sanger, Texas. On top of that, Evans has visited patients at St. Francis Children’s Hospital in Tulsa?, sorted and packed food for the Kendall-Whittier School food pantry? and read to students at Dunn Elementary School in Arlington, Texas?. He also is very involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and spoke at the FCA Rivalry event at the Church at Midtown.
