Dani Mostrom will graduate in December 2016 with a degree in health science and a minor in health service management community development. She has a 3.71 cumulative grade-point average and earned honorable mention all-Valley Scholar-Athlete honors in 2015. Mostrom interned at Williamson Wellness Center where she was able to conduct data analysis on the pre/post-rehabilitation patterns of an aging cliental population with regard to daily exercise and strength straining. Like volleyball, health and wellness have always been a few of her greatest passions. Every day, she aspires to collaborate with others in order to learn, grow, and facilitate healthy-living communities and wellness programs. It is Mostrom’s goal to work in corporate health and wellness after she graduates. She wants to focus on understanding the determinants of physical activity and energy expenditure, adaptations to exercise that impact work performance, disease risk, exercise metabolism and nutrition studies.

Throughout Mostrom’s college career, she has learned that success is never determined by the efforts of one individual, but rather through the hard work, smart thinking and passionate purposes of a team. Thus, in the future, she hopes to one day work for a healthcare organization or company whose mission it is to turn curative, creative, and healthful ideas into reality. Mostrom has been accepted to graduate school at both Wichita State University (exercise science) and Missouri State University (wellness management and health promotion). She plans to take the spring semester off of school before beginning graduate school.

Character

Mostrom has developed great leadership skills during her time at Wichita State. She always has been a very hard-working student-athlete but has developed leadership skills on and off the court. She is a leader not only for the volleyball student-athletes, but also for all student-athletes in the athletic department. She is in her second year as president of the WSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and is also a representative for the Missouri Valley Conference SAAC. She is extremely coachable and has exceeded expectations on the court after becoming the starting libero at the beginning of her redshirt freshman year.

Community

Mostrom has served her community in many different ways. The list includes the following: The Arc of Wichita SOC Buddy Walk, Kansas Food Bank & Crosslines Food Pantry, WSU Domestic Violence Awareness Walk, Top Learning Center, Kensler Elementary reading program, Allen Elementary Walk-a-Thon, WSU Athletics Pen Pal Program, Girl Scout Cookie Kick-Off, Wichita State Health Fair, Wichita State Earth Day, Girl Scout Talk, Fast Fours and the Little Spikers Volleyball Program and Junior Spikers Volleyball Program.
