Daniel Johnson was named to the All-ACC Academic Team in 2015 and entered his senior season with a 3.07 cumulative GPA. Majoring in sport administration, Johnson is on schedule to earn his degree in the spring of 2017.

Character

“Daniel Johnson has had many experiences that have shaped and developed his character. At a young age, he left home to play in England with a Premier League academy team. That experience helped him develop self-reliance while developing meaningful relationships with new teammates. He has learned to overcome adversity and struggles to reach the heights of the college elite. DJ is a person of integrity. He is trustworthy and understands the responsibility of being a good teammate and helping others. He is a genuinely caring person and is one of the first to offer his time for community service and freely give of himself simply to create a positive experience for others.” - Head Coach Ken Lolla

Community

Johnson is a key member of the University of Louisville men’s soccer team, recognized earlier this year as Atlantic Coast Conference Game-Changers for their work in the local community. Recently, Johnson participated in an adapted sports program at the Churchill School, and he has assisted in preparing and serving morning meals to those in need with the Lord’s Kitchen. Johnson and the Cardinals also have participated in the Go4TheGoal program by wearing yellow wristbands and shoe laces in support of Pediatric Cancer Awareness.

Competition

In two seasons with Louisville, Johnson has started all 26 matches scoring five goals and adding one assist. Last season, Johnson earned All-ACC Second Team Honors after scoring five goals and starting all 19 matches during his first season with the Cardinals. The Duluth, Ga., native connected for goals against Kentucky, Syracuse, Clemson, UConn and North Carolina.
