Character

A two-time team captain, Keat enters his fifth year on campus after missing his junior season with a major knee injury. He had qualified for the 2008 Olympics with the New Zealand national team — his native country — but was unable to play due to his knee injury. “Daniel has been an exemplary member of our men’s soccer program at Dartmouth,” coach Jeff Cook said. “He has shown tremendous determination and character in battling back from some serious injuries and I have no doubt that he will be one of the outstanding midfielders in college soccer in 2010. In addition to his personal success and achievements, Daniel has led by example within our team both on and off the field. He has earned the respect of his teammates and coaches as well as the Dartmouth community.”

Community

Keat is an active youth soccer coach. He has coached children at the Big Green Clinics, a low-cost spring session for area children, and also coached during the team’s summer camps.

Competition

Keat enters his senior season on the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Watch List. As a junior Keat returned from his injury and earned multiple honors, including third-team NSCAA All-American, first-team All-Ivy and first-team NSCAA All-Northeast Region. He led the Big Green in scoring with 22 points on eight goals and six assists. Keat was also named first-team All-Ivy as a freshman and made the second team in his sophomore season.
