Darius Hill is currently majoring in management. He was named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team in 2018 and the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team in 2017. He has been recognized on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll and the Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll throughout his career. Hill was named to the WVU President’s List this fall after he earned a 4.0 GPA.

Character

Community

A great ambassador for the WVU baseball program and West Virginia University, Hill has been highly involved in the community throughout his WVU career and has devoted countless hours giving back to the West Virginia community, the surrounding area and in his hometown of Dallas. Hill has made numerous visits to the WVU Children’s Hospital and Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He also has volunteered at food pantries and with Meals on Wheels in Dallas. Additionally, Hill is always eager to interact with fans at games, signing autographs and thanking fans for their support.

Competition

Hill has earned numerous awards and his statistics rank among WVU’s best as he enters his senior season. He was named to the ABCA East All-Region First Team, the All-Big 12 Second Team and the Big 12 All-Tournament Team as a junior in 2018. He collected All-Big 12 Honorable Mention accolades and Big 12 All-Tournament Team honors in 2017.

As a freshman in 2016, Hill was named to five freshman All-America teams, the ABCA East All-Region Second Team, the All-Big 12 Second Team and the Big 12 All-Freshman Team. In WVU’s career rankings, he is No. 5 in sacrifice flies (12), No. 7 in at-bats (703) and doubles (54), No. 8 in hits (229) and No. 10 in fielding percentage (.988).

Last season, Hill led the team and finished second in the Big 12 with 79 hits, was third in the conference with a team-high-tying 20 doubles and was ninth in the league with 115 total bases. He was second on the team with a .329 batting average and 41 runs scored and added four home runs and 36 RBIs. Hill’s 240 at-bats led the team and ranked No. 7 in a single season in team history. In conference action, he was sixth in the Big 12 with a .364 batting average and finished second with 36 hits and sixth with nine doubles. His five sacrifice flies were tied for No. 7 in a single season in team history, and he added a team-best four game-winning hits.
