Darius Stills

Classroom

Stills is on pace to graduate in December with his bachelor’s degree in multidisciplinary studies. He has earned a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll numerous times, as well as WVU’s Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll.

Character

Stills is one of the team leaders, being voted by his peers on the football team’s leadership council. During this pandemic, Stills was one of the team’s accountability leaders and oversaw a group of players, having competitions against the other accountability teams.

He is a good teammate in the locker room and is always willing to help out his teammates. When WVU loses a game and players choose not to speak to the media, Still steps up and answers their questions. He is always willing to stand up and represent the team, even in tough situations. He’s a big borther on the football team and has been assigned with one of the young players, to mentor and make sure they navigate through their classes. Stills helps them understand what is expected of them, as a member of the WVU team.

Stills was selected as one of the team’s representatives at the Big 12 Media Day, because of his character and leadership. He was also selected as WVU’s representative for the Big 12 Conference’s Champion for Life. Stills spoke in their video about equality.

He’s the defensive line room leader and serves as a liason with the coaching staff on behalf of his position.

Community

Stills has always been one of the team leaders when it comes to community service. He has volunteered at WVU Hospital, Night to Shine Prom, Skyview Elementary School Eastwood Elementary School, and bingo events at the Sundale nursing home.

Stills also took part in the SAAC Equity marches with teammates and other student-athletes in the athletic department, and does a lot on social media to voice his concerns on equity.

Competition

Stills is a two-year starter on the defensive line for West Virginia. He was named a preseason All-American for 2020-21 by all of the magazines and media, and was the preseason Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year.

He was a 2019 All-Big 12 first team member and has been nationally ranked in both sacks and tackles for loss the past two years. Still has helped the Mountaineers to two bowl appearances, and helped put WVU in the conference championship picture during two of his three years.

WVU has been ranked at times during his tenure, including most of the 2018-19 season. Still has played in 41 games during his career and has 75 tackles, 24.5 tackles for loss, 11.5 sackes, one interception, one forced fumble, and one blocked field goal.
