Darrin MacLeod is a health sciences major with a minor in psychology who has a 3.6 cumulative grade-point average. MacLeod was named to the COSIDA Academic All-District Team in 2015. He has received the Missouri Valley Conference Academic Excellence award and multiple selections to the Missouri Valley Conference Academic Honor Roll. McLeod is on pace to graduate in December of 2016.

Character

MacLeod has been appointed as team captain for the 2016 season.

Community

MacLeod was awarded the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Good Neighbor Award in the fall of 2015. The award recognizes Missouri Valley Conference student-athletes who are in good academic standing, demonstrate good citizenship through good sportsmanship and significant community service. MacLeod has volunteered with several Des Moines area organizations including Courage League Sports—a non-profit recreational center that works with kids with disabilities—the West Des Moines Soccer Club and DSM Move. MacLeod is a passionate promoter of the Drake men’s soccer program and assists with social media and other marketing activities.

Competition

Throughout his career, MacLeod has played in more than 60 matches for the Bulldogs. He already holds the top mark in program history in career shutouts and will be among the leaders in several goalkeeper program statistical categories by end of his career. MacLeod is a four-time Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week winner and was named to the MVC All-Freshman team in 2013.
