Classroom

McIntyre holds a 3.2 grade point average heading into his first semester of his senior year.  He has been on Colgate’s equivalent of the Dean’s List three times.

Character

McIntyre holds himself to a standard that allows the coaches to set him as the bar as to how they want student-athletes to carry themselves.  He is a leader in the sense that he expects everyone to work at the game and leads by example whether it is in the weight room or off the ice.  Since the day McIntyre arrived at Colgate, he has always been the first guy to ask for incoming recruits’ phone numbers so he can welcome them and start preparing them for life in the classroom and on the ice.  He is a well-rounded kid that takes care of his academic obligations with as much pride and efforts as he puts forth on the rink, even though he is sure to have a long hockey career ahead of him.  McIntyre is a student-athlete that younger players on the team will get their leadership from as they move up the ladder and mentor others.

Community

During the summer, McIntyre serves as a volunteer camp counselor at various hockey camps in Ontario, which are close to his home in Pefferlaw.  He has also served as a motivational speaker for Granden Toy, Canada’s equivalent to Staples.

Competition

McIntyre competes at a high level.  Last year he was a first-team ACHA/Reebok East University Division I All-American.  Additionally, he was a first-team All-America selection by Inside College Hockey and was named an All-College Hockey News honoree.  McIntyre was a first team All-ECAC Hockey selection and was a finalist for the prestigious Hobey Baker Memorial Award.  As a junior, he tallied 21 goals and 22 assists for 33 total points, the highest point total at Colgate since current St. Louis Blues player Andy McDonald in the 1999-2000 season.  McIntyre finished among the top 20 in the nation in goals and points.
