Jones holds a 3.42 GPA as a dual major in Biology and Environmental Studies. He was named to the Inaugural Atlantic Sun Academic All-Conference team in 2011 and earned ESPN Academic All-District 3 second honors as a sophomore in 2010. He is a three-time A-Sun All-Academic honoree.

Character

Leading by example on the field and off, Jones is a three-year Eagles Council (SAAC) member, serving as the Vice President in 2011-12 and the President for his upcoming senior year/ He also represents FGCU’s student-athletes on the Ethnic Diversity Committee, gathering information from fellow student-athletes in terms of viewpoints and experiences. He also served as the Vice President (2010-11) and President (2011-12) of the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society and he will be a team co-captain for the upcoming 2012 season.

Community

Jones has volunteered in the community with the following organizations: Salvation Army (2009-Present; Food packing and sorting during the holidays; toy distribution and sorting for children), Student Government Director of Sustainability (2012-Present; leading environmental initiatives on campus for students with a focus on better food systems), Summer of Hunger Food Drive (2010-2012; started an end of the year food drive on campus as students move out to donate to the Harry Chapin Food Bank), Feeding America Tampa Bay (Summer of 2011; worked community distribution events), Ronald McDonald House, Alternative Fall Break Volunteer (Winter of 2011; traveled to Biloxi, Mississippi to help Hurricane Katrina victims with water damaged homes) and Real Food Challenge Regional Food Day Coordinator (Current; connects colleges within the Southeast and offering support in food initiatives on their respective campuses).

Competition

One of the most decorated players in FGCU’s five-year history, Jones is a two-time Atlantic Sun All-Conference first team selection (2010 & 2011). He burst onto the scene as a sophomore in 2010, helping FGCU achieve a national ranking and the 2010 A-Sun regular season crown by leading the team with a single-season record 17 points, highlighted by seven goals. During the 2010 season, he was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week twice and the College Soccer News National Team of the Week one time. Along with his A-Sun All-Conference first team accolade, he also earned a spot on the 2010 NSCAA ALL-South Region second team. In 2011, he found a spot on the A-Sun All-Conference first team for the second straight year, helping FGCU win both the A-Sun regular season and tournament crown en route to the program’s first NCAA Tournament berth in its first year of postseason eligibility. He finished his junior season with eight points on two goals and six assists and enters his senior campaign fifth all-time in points (27), third in goals (9) and third in assists (9).
