Poppert has a cumulative 3.76 GPA as an International Studies Major who is on track to graduate.

Character

Poppert is the team captain who brings balance to the group. He has seen and experienced what imbalance can do to people in his life and has learned how to develop as a whole to avoid that. He outworks everyone on the team to continue to drive the group forward with him. He has almost become a player/coach with his relationships with the younger guys on the team and his ability to have the integrity to back up what he says and what he expects of himself and of his teammates.

Community

Poppert has served with the team in many community service functions over his four years at USF. So far this year he has helped during the Thanksgiving Food Drive, Soles4Souls Shoe Donation, Pro and College Youth Challenge, the Nike Women's Marathon and the Pitching In For Haiti project among college baseball players.

Competition

Poppert was a 2009 WCC First Team Selection after starting 55 games and playing 56 as a junior. He batted .352 (77-for-219) with 15 doubles, three triples, one homerun, 52 RBI, 41 runs, 24 walks, and 16 stolen bases while leading the team in RBI and triples, being second in doubles and walks and third in steals,  Drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 23rd round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft.
